Introduction
The Governor’s May Revise budget proposes the complete elimination of the California Department of Public Health, Office of Health Equity’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) funding starting July 1, 2024. This reduction of approximately $74 million will terminate all ongoing campaigns, including LSP’s contract with the Public Health Institute’s Center for Wellness and Nutrition to provide essential prevention and early intervention mental health services to youth in Sonoma County. We must act swiftly to influence the legislative budgeting process and ensure this critical funding for youth mental health is preserved.
